The perfect location for
your Wedding

What you need to Marry in Cyprus

If you are contemplating getting married in Cyprus, and want a Christian Wedding, then the historic church of St Barnabas , located near the centre of Old Limassol,  is the perfect location for you.

The Christian Marriage Ceremony, in the Anglican tradition, will be conducted by our resident Chaplain, the Rev Rod Price.  Afterwards the picturesque Church courtyard is an ideal spot for those wedding photographs that will records your special day!

Most of the couples who come to Cyprus for their wedding make their arrangements through one of the many Wedding Agencies who operate here.  We normally do recommend that couples use an agent, mainly to

ensure that all the legal formalities are complied with as often the couples only arrive on the island a few days before the ceremony so do not have much time to sort out the necessary paperwork.

However, of course where couples do decide to handle all the arrangements themselves our Chaplain is only too happy to help/advise where we can try to make things easier for them. So, if  you are arranging your wedding yourselves. Please see the following :

This page contains the following topics. Please click on the topic of your choice; you can return to this menu at any time.

In addition, you will need 2 witnesses –anyone over the age of 18 years, and we will need their full names and passport (or Cypriot ID numbers) as this information has to be included on the Marriage Certificate. Ideally we should also have a copy of their passport/id cards showing their picture and passport/id number for our records.

Affidavits. - you do need two affidavits - i.e. one each.  These can be obtained from the Municipality Yemasoyia Limassol (Xenia)  if you ask her . There is an example of what is required at the end of this document.  If you obtain them in UK using the example provided, then it will be rather more expensive than getting them in Cyprus.

Wedding Licence.  (Form B).  It is mandatory to obtain a marriage licence (Form B) from the local Municipality  authorising the marriage to take place at the date and location as stated on the form.  The Anglican clergy here are licensed Marriage Officers, authorised by the Cyprus Government to conduct weddings but they can only do so once they have been given this Form B by you at the pre-wedding interview. No FORM “B” no wedding.!

The application form must be returned to the Chaplain conducting the wedding ASAP after receiving it.
